.....It is in Rennes in 2006, that 6 musicians influenced by all sorts of afro American productions (funk, jazz, nu-soul), choose to join together their talents and personality. They start meeting for live impro shows during which they invite an English speaking MC. The alchemy resulting from these live sessions is immediate and confronted to the enthusiasm emerging from this new jazz hip hop sound, the communicative energy and the pleasure of sharing this together, they found LIKE JAM.
Finding their inspiration in OPUS AKOBEN, THE METRICS or even THE ROOTS music, the 7 members of LIKE JAM deliver a tinged music, sometimes bitter, other times sweet, underlining ironical and cynical minded lyrics.
Whilst developing their repertoire, the band makes some noticeable appearances in 2007, particularly by organising the HIP HOP SESSIONS in Rennes; a concept where the combo merges to a backing band. Replacing turntables and MPCs for the service of local MCs and musicians, LIKE JAM meets with its audience during these hot jam sessions.
2008 marks a new step with the release of the EP “Check This!” (GROOVE OFFICE – ZF PRODUCTIONS). Today, LIKE JAM proposes an original and well balanced live set, filled with cutting edge beats, borrowing from the jazz its colours and from the funk its energy.
